From August 11 to 19, more than 125 hot air balloons travel from Quebec, elsewhere in Canada, the United States, France, and Brazil to brighten the skies of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu for the 29th edition of the international balloon festival. With their eyes on the sky, young and old observe inflatable artwork shaped like bees, haunted houses, crabs, and clowns. Throughout the day, children jump in Balloon Planet bounce houses and discover the history of the balloon at the Come and Play in the Sky exhibition.
Visitors sway to tunes at concerts by artists who gather to celebrate the event, such as Mika, Simple Plan, Les Cowboys Fringants, Pierre Lapointe, and—for the first time in Quebec—the American rapper B.o.B. On August 12, 13, 15, and 16, the multimedia show The Night Suns infiltrates the starry skies with light projections set to music. Though not included with this Groupon, visitors can climb aboard a hot air balloon and see the sights themselves for flights of 30–60 minutes.
