La Troïka

2171 Rue Crescent, Montréal

Choose between two options:

  • $49 for a five-course tasting menu for two (a $100 value)
  • $99 for a Russian meal package for four (a $232 total value) that includes:

– A five-course tasting menu (a $200 value)
– Four glasses of vodka (a $32 value)

The Travelling in Russia tasting menu includes the following courses for each guest:

  • Red caviar and sour cream blini
  • Hot borscht
  • An appetizer of either pan-seared Siberian meat pelmeni, crispy chicken blinchiki, or a plate of Ukrainian-style jellied meat
  • Sorbet with vodka (palate cleanser)
  • An entree of either russian goulash (served Babushka Galia–style on a bed of egg pasta), golubtsy cabbage leaves stuffed with three meats, or grain-fed chicken breast à la kiev served with wild rice

The chef of La Troïka sweeps guests away to the far away lands of Eastern Europe with a five-course tasting menu of traditional Russian dishes. The dainty red roe of the first course bursts under the pressure of teeth before wait staff bring out plates of borscht, which delights taste buds with delicate sweetness. Chefs pan sear pelmeni flown in from Siberia, and crunchy blinchiki crepes cradle soft chicken centers. A sorbet served with vodka eases digestion, cleanses palates, and renews appetites. The feast continues with goulash on a rich bed of egg pasta or with chicken à la kiev browned to a lustrous golden colour. With the four-diner option, each customer receives a glass of vodka.

Located on bustling Crescent Street, the restaurant features a dining room whose white tablecloths bathe in a blue glow from the bar. Plates sport a drawing of the three horses as a reminder of the carriage for which the restaurant is named. The restaurant often hosts performances from live DJs and Russian singers.
