At Mecaglisse, Subarus speed across a 2.2-kilometre-long European-style asphalt rally track. During a technical briefing session, instructors teach racers the basics of navigating a Subaru Impreza WRX through each turn, and then demonstrate their favourite race techniques and windshield wiper settings as they drive each visitor around two laps of the winding track lined with more than 700 acres of lush forest. After the lesson, racing students strap into the driver’s seat, shift the manual transmission into the proper gear, and grip the steering wheel as the vehicle’s four-wheel drive accelerates racers up to 100 kmh in about 5.3 seconds. The race car’s 265-horsepower engine propels drivers along four solo laps around the asphalt to practice braking, turning, and honking in Morse code. Optional helmets are available to rent, and customers can purchase additional laps at a discounted rate.
